What is 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten?
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a reading program designed to promote early literacy in babies, infants and toddlers. The concept is simple: Read a book (any book) to your child. The goal is to have read 1,000 books (you can repeat books) before your child starts kindergarten.
How Does It Work?
- Register at the children’s desk and receive a folder and reading log for the first 100 books.
- Read to your child and color in the box for each book read.
- Report with your reading log to the library when you’ve completed 100 books to receive a special prize and pick up your next 100 reading log.
- When your child completes 1,000 they’ll receive their very own certificate!
